Consultation open on common quality information requirements The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is seeking feedback on a Code amendment proposal that would ensure the system operator has timely access to accurate information for assets connecting or connected to the power system. |
Feedback on the proposal is welcome by 5pm, Tuesday 12 August 2025. The EA anticipates publishing its decision on this proposal at the end of 2025. |

19 August | Consultation |
The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is seeking feedback on three alternative models for distribution system operation as part of the Future System Operation project to inform its decision-making and next steps. The consultation paper considers the expected capabilities and functions needed from electricity distributors, the system operator, aggregators, and/or various third parties. The three DSO models they are putting forward are: Model 1: Total TSO model This consultation follows on from our discussion paper, Future operation of New Zealand’s power system, which sought feedback on several potential issues that could impact future system operation. |

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is seeking feedback on its rationale and high-level design for an Emergency Reserve Scheme to unlock industrial demand flexibility and boost security of New Zealand’s power supply ahead of next winter. |
Feedback on this proposal is welcome by 5pm, Thursday 28 August 2025. If the EA decides to proceed, it will consult further on the required changes to the Electricity Industry Participation Code for implementation. |

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is notifying electricity retailers that their 2024/25 compliance reports for the Consumer Care Obligations are now available to complete and are due by 30 September 2025. Reports must be submitted in the prescribed form on the Authority’s Information Provision Platform. |
